Apparently sewing your own sandwich bag is a thing now. I've found a few of these online and they look pretty cool. Most use a cotton fabric for the outside and a ripstock nylon for the inside to protect the food. Nylon is a little difficult to sew, but its worth it.
These are super environmentally friendly, obviously, and a lot of schools demand paperless lunches now. So taking your garbage home is a lot easier with a sewn sandwich bag now. Most people use velcro as a closure, which keeps things simple for kids, too.
Depending on the design you use, you can make more of a snack bag, like the ones pictured above. These look pretty cute, and I think my co-workers would be jealous if they saw me pulling crackers out of one of these nifty little bags.
Just make sure you use a food-friendly fabric. Most fabric stores carry fabrics made with non-toxic dies. Just ask if you're not sure! this is an easy project. Now get sewing!!
